You may probably wonder whether to choose the synchronized notebook option or the local notebook option. In a nutshell, the synchronized notebook option allows you to save notes and notebooks in Evernote cloud servers, which means that you can access them from another device; all notebooks are set to sync by default. On the other hand, if you don’t want some notebooks or notes to backup and be available for other devices to see, you can opt to save the notebooks in your hard drive or mobile device. This provides a more secure option of storing notes if you don’t want sensitive information being availed to anyone you may be collaborating with. You can consider this to be your private notebooks section.

Sharing options

You may be wondering how the collaboration option works. With this feature, you can let team members to access some of your notebooks for easy collaboration. This includes sharing of URLs to let people access certain notebooks or notes. In free version, when you share a note, the person you have shared with can only view the note but cannot edit or modify it. Likewise, you cannot edit other people’s notes. The premium version allows you to remove the lock such that others can access and modify your notes. You can share a note by tapping the share button on your Mac or PC or the “…” icon on your smartphone. This will give you options on which sharing method to choose as displayed below.
